7 Dynamic Leadership Rules

"Leadership is both a research area and a practical skill, regarding the ability of an individual or organization to "lead" or guide other individuals, teams, or entire organizations." Wiki

If we could assimilate all the material that has been written or recorded on leadership we would probably have enough to go to the moon and back several thousand times.

The 7 Dynamic Leadership Rules we will discuss are pivotal in making any leadership style work. There are many different ways to lead and many different personality types leading. I also know it takes more than just these seven. But these seven are crucial to ensuring you are effective. Great leadership exudes great character, coupled with how you handle stress and how you respond to your naysayers.

There are thousands if not millions of opinions on what leadership is, does, and believes. And believe me, I get it. I understand there are different ways to lead. I know that all leaders lead somewhat differently. I understand that what you may think is a great leader may be different from what I think is one, or, your boss thinks is one.

But I do know that while some leaders are great people and have many followers, there are others who are horrible people yet still have many followers. Two examples of that are Martin Luther King Jr. and Hitler. One is great and the other pure evil. However, they both had many followers. They were both considered to be great leaders because of their ability to convince people to follow.

So, is that the number one leadership trait – having many followers? Could a great leader only have a few, say ten to twelve or so followers? Would he or she be considered a great leader today? Probably not. The Huffington Post  almost certainly would not write an article about them. But I say yes!

Leadership in my opinion has everything to do with character not followers because we all are leading someone. Whether it is a child or grandchild, a spouse, one employee, or mainly – yourself.

Would you have followed Hitler? Some of you would have. Will you follow the anti-Christ? Many will. Why? Because many people do not have great character traits. They have allowed demented thinking to warp their sense of right and wrong. They call evil good and good evil.

So what is it that we all want out of leadership?

Why do most of us read everything we can get our hands on about it? Why do we pay thousands of dollars to attend leadership conferences hoping to find a way to improve our leadership style? Why do so many people become leadership coaches? Because we were all put here on this planet to lead others. Leadership is for everyone. You might only lead your children, but you might also lead a business with thousands of employees. Either way your character matters. Your leadership style matters. But if you don't take a good hard look at you, then you can forget leading effectively.

Here are 7 Dynamic Leadership Rules that should be instilled within us all.

  1. Consistency of personality and character in tack, you must have accountability partners – this is the downfall of many great leaders!
  2. The ability to understand, articulate and show people how to have a better future and life and then empower them to lead.
  3. A relentless spirit to fight for what’s right and never give up even in the face of danger.
  4. Let go and let God – the ability to hear God – if not, you’re all on your own when He has all the perfect answers for you and others.
  5. Brilliant vision coupled with conviction, passion, humility, tenacity, steadfastness and the ability to communicate that vision.
  6. Meticulous planning, strategizing and surrounding yourself with successful mentors and masterminds.
  7. The ability to wait on the best solutions, timing, and strategy along with knowing how to outwit, outwork, outthink and outmaneuver your competition or enemies.

We all long to either be a great leader or follow one. I believe that is why we read and study the topic so much. But the sad part is that many people are not willing to change. It is too difficult for them to take a deep hard look at themselves and admit they have flaws that need revising.

You must understand and implement the 7 Dynamic Leadership Rules

Many people are afraid to let go and let God lead, guide and direct them because they think they know it all already. These are the people you need to be careful if following.

If you are standing with a leader who lies, cheats, hides things, distorts the truth, has no accountability partner, does drugs, has no respect for God, doesn’t try to improve their own character, is unfaithful to their spouse and is always cutting others down – RUN.

Abraham Lincoln said it best, “Stand with anybody that stands right, stand with him while he is right and part with him when he goes wrong.” I agree whole heartedly. Life is too short to be on the wrong team.

Now go and learn these rules so that when faced with diverse situations you will know how to respond.
