Rule #1 – Have a great topic and know it inside and out.

Did you know that a great speaker must have a great topic to speak on? It all starts with a great idea and then morphs into that unbelievable speech. That literally matters more than your confidence, your looks, your stage presence or your ability to communicate.

Find an interesting topic and then study the heck out of it and present it like it is your last gathering. Like the last day of your life. And do that every time.

Rule #2 – Show transparency and vulnerability every time.

Every good singer knows that it is more about the delivery of a song than the words to a song. You have to feel your speech. You have to emote the words coming out of your mouth. You have to live your topic. You have got to present it in such a way that the world longs for more of you.

Willing to be transparent and vulnerable is one of the most powerful tools a speaker can use. But as with anything powerful, it should be handled with caution. Vulnerability is not oversharing. Transparency is not letting all your secrets out. If in doubt, try your speech on an honest friend.

Rule #3 – Make them laugh but prepare for the worst.

Humor is always great in any speech but it takes a lot of practice if it does not come natural for you. What you’re looking for instead, are hilarious-but-true stories that are directly relevant to your topic. It is best if they are personal stories but they can also be stories you have read or heard about.

Dangers: offensive language, limericks, puns, sarcasm and any attempt at humor based on religion, ethnicity, gender identity or politics.

Nearly all great speeches have a little humor in them. Those are the ones you tend to remember most.

Rule #4 – Make eye contact early on.

The more you make eye contact the more the audience feels like they know you or are at least getting to know you. It also makes you feel more comfortable and makes those you look at feel important.

Believe it or not, scientists have shown that just the act of two people staring at each other will trigger mirror neuron activity that literally adopts the emotional state of the other person.

Make sure before you speak that you can see your audience. If the light is in your eyes and you can't see anyone, just pretend to look out as if you are looking in their faces. And then make contact afterwards if you can.

Rule #5 – Create a tale throughout your speech.

If you want to make a point, you need to create a line that leads from one point to another. A tale like theme called a throughline, leading from the point of departure to the destination on a single path.

You won’t find the word, "throughline" in the dictionary though.

How do you begin to use throughlines for your stories? The first step is to get yourself some index cards, either 3×5 or 5×7. As you develop your speech, rather than simply lining them all up in order, you take each sequential element of your speech and create its own independent series of cards showing every step along the way. Every good speech should have one.

Since your goal is to construct something amazing inside your listeners’ minds, you can think of the throughline as a strong cord or rope, onto which you will attach all the elements that are part of the idea you’re building. A good exercise is to try to encapsulate your throughline in no more than fifteen words.

Now your ready to construct your speech and give the best one yet.

Are You Paying Attention?

Who is this guy? Have you ever been driving behind him? I know I have . . . many times.

The most dangerous thing about being him or, being behind him is that he is NOT paying attention to his surroundings.

This is where many people are in their lives. Attentionless.

They haven't a clue where they are, where they are going, or, how to get there. Their focus is on the present and not the future.

They don't consider it to be important enough to pay attention to. The sad part is that when tradegy or tough times come they will fold because they never took the time to introspect.

They don't even know their purpose, their giftings, or their basic wants and desires.

Then suddenly someone steps out in front of them and they crash. They get mad, frustrated and bitter at the other person when all the while the monkey should be on their back. They refuse to admit their shortcomings and never take responsibility for not paying attention to their own life.

It is time we all start paying attention to all the signals life brings. The red lights, the green lights and the yellow lights. They are there for a reason. They are there to protect us, warn us, and keep us safe. They are there for us to look at and respond too.

My hope is that you take a deep look at your life today and start paying attention to the little things so that when the big things arrive they will take care of themselves.

Take a Look at Our World . . .

Take a Look at Your Faith . . .

Godlessness in the Last Days

Different people have different views in life. Some people are natural optimists and see a bright future, some are realists and see the world as it really is, and some are pessimists and see the world as doom and gloom.

Guess what? We should look through the lens of each, every once in awhile. It is like peering into your own soul to take charge of the negative, incorporate the real, and instill the positive.

There is a lot going on in our world today. Things are not what they seem. Things are masked to the naked eye, but revealed to believers by God, if asked.

I do a lot of asking. I seek his presence a lot. I cannot live without it.

If Jesus died a horrific death so that I could have life and have it abundantly, then why not? He also gives eternal life that includes rewards and crowns and mansions.

I stand amazed at the deception taking place even though I know it was prophesied to happen. I just never thought I would see it being fulfilled in my life time.

The Bible nailed it perfectly as it has done over and over for eons with prophesies that have come true. Now let’s look at what it has told centuries ago about today.

Now remember – this is talking about Christians. Not unbelievers, they are God's to judge. I will share with the unbeliever at the end.

Also, maybe this will help unbelievers to understand why they do not like some professing christians.

But remember, never let a man's actions or words keep you from accepting Jesus and having a relationship with him!

In Paul's letter to Timothy he says that the Lord's servants, Christians, must not be quarrelsome but kindly to everyone, an apt teacher, patient, correcting oponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant that they will repent and come to know the truth, and that they may escape from the snare of the devil, having been help captive by him to do his will.

Whoa . . . Professing  Christians doing the will of the devil? You bet!

Many believers have taken on the Devil's identity instead of Gods. They haven't a clue who they are in Christ. They are deceived.

You must understand this, that in the last days distressing times will come for believers. They are here folks.

For people (professing christians) will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, inhuman, implacable, (which means unforgiving and unstoppable), slanderers, profligates, (which means completely given up to licentiousness as sexually immoral), brutes, haters of good, treacherous, (which is cannot be trusted ), swollen with conceit, reckless, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to the outward form of godliness but denying its power, (many churches now discouraging the Holy Spirit’s gifts). 2 Timothy 3:1

AVOID THEM! If you know christians who act like this – the Bible says, get away from them!

They are always being instructed but can never arrive at the knowledge of the truth.

Is this you?

I know so many people in this condition.

Paul continues to say that they are of a corrupt mind and counterfeit faith, and oppose the truth. But, THEY will not make much progress, because, as in the case of the two men in the Bible, (Jannes and Jambres) who were like this, their folly became plain to everyone.

Scripture says that all who want to live a Godly life will be persecuted. But wicked people and imposters will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and being deceived.

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believe, knowing from whom you have learned it, and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings that are able to instruct you for salvation through Jesus Christ.

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.

So to all the unbeliever's out there – If you know a person who calls himself a Christian but lives like the above things mentioned – I'm deeply sorry. They are not living a Christ-centered life.

All belierver's make mistakes and we are all forgiven. But anyone who professes to be a believer but lives completely like an unbeliever, avoid them.

They are living no different than the unsaved, so no wonder you don't want to be like them. They are no different than the life you are possibly living. They may even live worse.

Know this, if you are reading this – saved or unsaved – I love you and care for you. And most importantly Jesus loves you and gave his own life just for you.

For the unbeliever – Just ask Jesus with a pure heart and motive if he is real, and then listen. He will show you, he always will show you if you ask sincerely.

For the believer – please check the condition of your heart. Read your Bible and stop allowing the devil to deceive you. Christ judges the condition of the heart. Are you really in love with him, are you really making him Lord?

The only thing I can continue to show anyone is the love of Christ and his character. The only thing that will save people from eternal torment is Jesus. He is the only way.

The Bible says that in the last days, when the anti-Christ comes, that God himself will send strong delusion to those that refused to love the truth and be saved. God himself will lead them to believe what is false, so that all who have not believed the truth but took pleasure in unrighteousness will be condemned. 2 Thessalonians 2:11

People’s chances of finding God are becoming less and less as the end times approach. So we as lovers of Christ who have tasted and seen that the Lord is good have to love them and reach out to them.

Our time is short.

You cannot be afraid of what anyone thinks! Only what God thinks!

Do not be ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16
